New USPS Postage Rates for January 2014

NEW UPDATE 11-25-13:
USPS has proposed increases on first class mail which is not yet released. Stay tuned...

From ecommercebytes
Under the Market Dominant price adjustment, the cost of single-piece letters and cards would increase 1.141%, while the cost of parcels would increase 6.335%. (Note that the latter is higher than the overall increase for First-Class Mail because its cost coverage is 98.5 percent - in other words, the revenue generated doesn't cover its cost.)
Under the exigent request, the cost of single-piece letters and cards would increase 4.276%, while the cost of parcels would increase 4.349%.

Original article with known details:
Postage rates are going up once again. It's still cheaper than trying to get the package there yourself unless it's across town. This is what I've found so far. If I find any other additions or changes, I'll post them here. If you find any, please alert me.

Only these will change:
Large Flat Rate boxes will increase to $17.45 (up from 16.85)
Large flat rate boxes for APO/FPO/DPO will increase to $15.45 (up from $14.85).

• 1 oz Letters - .03 cent increase to .49 cents from .46 cents
• Additional Ounces   .01 cent increase to .21 cents
• All International Destinations 1 oz.  $1.15
• Postcards .01 cent increase to .34 cents

It's not unreasonable considering the high cost of fuel. Time to raise shipping rates in some instances.

  1. The USPS has a web site like print postage and service which allows consumers to calculate the quantity of postage necessary for a specific transaction and then buy that postage online with a credit score/debit card. Thank you for this article
